Built from Years of Supporting Teachers

I remember what it felt like as a special education teacher to have IEP goals to address, curriculum expectations to meet, and no classroom-ready resources that made instruction accessible for my students.

Years later, as I supported interns and new teachers, I saw the same challenge again and again: dedicated teachers trying to build meaningful instruction without the practical materials they needed.

So I started building what I couldn’t find.

Classroom-ready resources with purpose behind every activity.

What I Set Out to Create

I wanted to create resources that were practical for teachers and meaningful for students.

Resources that help teachers plan with purpose, support student engagement, and create access to instruction in ways that feel doable in real classrooms.

From the beginning, the goal has been to create:

  • Materials that are easy to use, but still thoughtfully designed

  • Instruction that supports access, engagement, and participation

  • Learning opportunities that connect to classroom routines, themes, and real experiences

  • Resources that go beyond isolated activities and help teachers think about the bigger instructional purpose

That goal has stayed the same. What has grown over time is the planning, assessment, and instructional thinking behind each resource.

Created from Real Classroom and District Needs

Creatively Adapted began by supporting teachers with practical, classroom-ready resources. As teachers used those resources in classrooms, during district consultations and professional learning settings, administrators and district leaders began reaching out.

They saw resources that were practical, engaging, and accessible for students. They also saw tools that could help teachers plan more intentionally and support greater consistency across classrooms.

That confirmed what I had seen for years: teachers and districts need resources that are both classroom-ready and grounded in strong instructional planning.

The Standard Behind Every Resource

Every resource has to be:

  • Practical enough to use in a real classroom

  • Clear enough for teachers and classroom staff to implement

  • Flexible enough to support a range of learners

  • Purposeful enough to connect to instruction.

  • Engaging enough to support active student participation

The goal is not to give teachers more to manage. The goal is to give teachers tools that help them make stronger instructional decisions while supporting students in more meaningful ways.

Experience That Shapes the Work

My work in special education has shaped every part of Creatively Adapted.

I have worked as a special education teacher, instructional coach, special education administrator, district consultant, and university instructor, all supporting special educators in real classrooms. I have also provided professional development nationally and internationally.

Each role has helped me see a different part of the same need.

As a teacher, I understood what it felt like to have the responsibility without the materials.

As a coach and administrator, I saw how much instruction could vary across classrooms when teachers lacked the tools or planning support they needed.

As a university instructor and supervisor, I continue to see how challenging it can be for beginning teachers to build strong instructional practices while also learning to plan, adapt, assess, and manage the daily demands of teaching.

As a district consultant, I continue to hear the same concern from teams: they do not need more programs. They need practical tools that support consistency, access, engagement, and purposeful instruction.

The planning and assessment tools now being developed by Creatively Adapted grew out of years of work with interns, teachers, and district teams. They were created to help educators plan with more clarity, respond to student needs, and make instructional decisions with greater confidence.
